Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree Overview

The American Musical and Dramatic Academy’s Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree programs combine a comprehensive, engaging college education with rigorous conservatory-level artistic training. Join the 170+ performances AMDA hosts each year to transform yourself into a multi-threat artist prepared to work in the entertainment industry.

Enter a welcoming, diverse community of creative artists from around the world with Hollywood or Broadway as your classroom. You will see firsthand how the entertainment business works and learn from faculty who are active, experienced industry professionals.

Our 120-credit hour fine arts programs are eight semesters in length. BFA degree programs can be completed in four years on the traditional track OR in as little as two and a half years on the accelerated track. Pathways through our New York City campus and online are also available*.

All BFA degree programs require 30 credits of general education and 90 credits of artistic immersion courses.

*Clock hours earned through AMDA Certificate Program studies are not applicable toward degree completion at the New York campus. These hours are fully transferable to degree programs offered at AMDA Los Angeles, AMDA Online, or Fordham University.

Spend a Semester in NY

New York Experience

Students studying at our Los Angeles campus in the BFA can spend their third semester taking 15 credit hours amid the lights of Broadway, the heritage of West Village, the beauty of Central Park and the arias of the Met.

The Office of the Registrar will contact you during your second semester with details on partaking in this opportunity to enjoy a semester in NYC. Tuition is the same on both campuses.
