Choose Your Campus:
Actor. Singer. Dancer. Writer. Creator. You’ll find your people at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy's College of Performing Arts. After all, our student life is centered in the heart of the two entertainment capitals of the United States: New York City and Los Angeles.
Come to the Big Apple and study near Lincoln Center. Or go to LA to finish your four-year degree in Hollywood. Whichever you choose, you’ll experience community events and savor the true flavor of both coasts.
If you choose New York, student life might involve grabbing tickets to a Broadway show, rehearsing your lines in Central Park, or filming a project on the bustling streets of the city.
If the West coast is more your style, you’ll enjoy countless community events like concerts at the Hollywood Bowl, movie premieres, beach days, stand-up comedy at the Laugh Factory, and more.
Testimonials
"I always tell students who are going through the rigorous day-to-day life of AMDA to work hard and put in the time. AMDA is all about how much effort you put into the work. Put in enough and you will be rewarded."

"Waking up every morning and seeing the Hollywood sign right outside my window. It's so inspirational and I feel blessed."

"AMDA has given me great knowledge about the business, hands-on teaching from instructors who are currently working in the business, discipline and, most importantly, it has taught me how to market myself and respect my instrument."

"Come ready to enhance the art that you love. Work hard, keep positive energy and never lose the drive."

I've loved living in the AMDA residence halls. This experience taught me a lot about living with other people! But I knew if I ever had a problem, I could talk to my RA, and they would help. If they couldn't, they would direct me to someone who could!
Being a commuter during my first semester was tough. Balancing long travel times, the demands of my studies, and making friends was challenging. But once I moved on campus, everything changed. Living here has been such an inspiring experience. Being surrounded by a vibrant community of fellow students has motivated me to grow as a performer and individual. The support from student affairs has been impeccable, ensuring we all thrive both in and out of the classroom. The housing team makes this place feel like a second home, and the friendships I've built here will last a lifetime.
After living in AMDA housing for four semesters, I can confidently say the housing team has always looked out for me and has my best interest at heart. They are a group of understanding humans who treat the student body respectfully and make residential life a fun yet safe experience.
I love the variety of events held at the residence halls. They've helped push me out of my comfort zone to be more creative, learn new things, and meet a whole lot of other people. They have also eased me into AMDA student life in the best way possible.
Since arriving at AMDA, my daughter has flourished, and we attribute so much of that to the incredible faculty, rigorous courses, and the immersive environment that pushes her to excel. The high-level performance opportunities, masterclasses, and industry connections are truly equipping her with the tools she needs to move toward her Broadway goals. As she looks forward to her next semester, I just wanted to extend my deepest appreciation for AMDA’s outstanding musical theatre program, dedicated instructors, and the invaluable performance experiences that are shaping her into a well-rounded artist.
Karmela came from Bosnia. Dafna traveled from Israel. And Aja drove a few hours from Baltimore to attend AMDA. Student life at AMDA College is colorful and vibrant and exciting. We welcome students from every location and every background. In fact, 42 percent of our students identify as racially and ethnically diverse. We are committed to dismantling structures that historically exclude minoritized groups.

Eating well is crucial for being a great student and performer. A balanced diet fuels both the body and brain, enhancing focus, energy levels, and overall cognitive function. Nutrient-rich foods support mental clarity and endurance, helping students absorb and retain information more effectively. For performers, proper nutrition boosts physical stamina and coordination, ensuring they can deliver their best on stage or in practice.
During emergency situations/events, AMDA utilizes "Everbridge" as the emergency communication vehicle. Students will receive a communication to their AMDA email address, a text to their cell phone number and an email to the student's personal email address. When a communication is received, we ask that the students reply with confirmation to verify the message was received. Students should keep their contact information up to date through the student portal.
