The American Musical and Dramatic Academy College of the Performing Arts is not just a college for singing and acting. Here you will master musical theatre through our multidisciplinary training and career preparation. And our graduates don’t only act, sing, and perform; they also create and direct.
Tony Award winners and nominees have completed our musical theatre training programs. Graduates are on Broadway, singing with Christina Aguilera in Las Vegas, and performing in many other unique ways. We prepare you to join them at the top of the profession.

Our musical theatre majors are forward-thinking and inclusive of contemporary sounds and experimental theatrical performances — like the hit show Hamilton, which is driven by hip-hop music. Classic musical theatre is also studied, focusing on representation and inclusive casting.

AMDA courses not only help you master musical theatre with classes like Voice Production and Speech, but you will also receive training in important career skills. Offerings like Mastering the Callback and Industry and Networking: Business Essentials prepare you to launch your career. You will graduate feeling prepared and comfortable in the most important casting rooms and on the biggest stages.

You will be invited to participate in production auditions at the start of each term. These are modeled after industry expectations and are how we cast the semester’s acting, musical theatre, and dance performances.
You will also perform in front of industry professionals in a showcase tailored to your strengths. A panel night offers further exposure as you perform in front of theatrical and casting agents.
Four-Year
Located on our Los Angeles campus with pathways from our NYC Conservatory, the Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Music Theatre offers an essential blend of music, acting, and dance training to help you master musical theatre. Our immersive, performance-based music theatre majors give you the theatrical and professional tools needed to launch a career in contemporary or classical musical theatre.
Two-Year
Our professional, career-focused AOS musical theatre major, located on our Los Angeles campus , is a two-year program offering interdisciplinary arts training for emerging musical theatre performers. Our performance, auditioning, and career courses prepare you to work in the demanding and fulfilling performing arts industry.
Three-Year
Our New York-based performing arts certificate programs provide professional conservatory training that prepares you to graduate career- and industry-ready. The curriculum in each 3-year advanced certificate program combines performance-based academic studies with immersion in craft, technique, and business essentials. Graduates from this program can seamlessly continue to AMDA Los Angeles or AMDA Online to complete their BFA degree or stay in NYC and continue to the Fordham Pathway and complete their B.A. Degree in as little as 2-3 semesters.
Two-Year
Our professional certificate program in musical theatre, acting, and dance is offered on our New York campus . You will study in the heart of Broadway. This intensive four-semester program immerses you in multi-arts training that develops your skills and prepares you to work on the biggest stages in theatre. Auditioning and career preparation courses are included to make sure you are career-ready.
