Important Information for

Gap Program Students

The information below is for students attending the Gap Program.

The Gap Program here at AMDA is meant to give students a glimpse into the conservatory experience and the opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture and educational experiences New York City has to offer, while discovering themselves in the performing arts world.

AMDA’s GAP program is steeped in the study of acting, movement, improvisation and performance. Under the guidance of AMDA’s world-class faculty, students not only learn the art and craft of performing, but also gain valuable insights into today’s entertainment industry.

At AMDA, safety and security is our number one priority. Our dorms and instructional buildings are equipped with 24/7 security personnel to ensure your peace of mind, and identification is required to enter any and all buildings.

Students who choose to board with us during the program will be housed in dormitory-style housing with at least one other roommate for the duration of the program. Specific locations will be announced in the webinar for deposited students occurring prior to each program.

AMDA recognizes that being a student in New York City can be stressful - and costly - and being hungry may only add to the stress! An optional Supplemental Food Plan may be added for an additional cost. This is a declining balance meal card that may be used at our two grab & go cafes on campus. While this plan is not meant to carry you day-and-night, it’s a great option to ensure that you’re able to have a meal and/or snack(s) on campus throughout your busy day of classes and rehearsals.

Sstudents will be responsible for their own transportation throughout the program. Staff will be sure to assist students in learning the transportation system during orientation and help them become familiar with New York City’s various transit options.

Family and friends are warmly invited to join us for our final presentations, held on the last Thursday of each session. Each student may invite up to five guests, and an RSVP form will be included in the welcome email sent one week before the session start date.

Final presentations are a showcase of the material students have been working on during the program and could include solos, duets, monologues, group numbers, dances, and more! Students will work with their assigned faculty to create something truly special that showcases each student's unique talents.

Audition Experience

During the program, all Gap students will have the opportunity to participate in an audition experience with the possibility of gaining acceptance to AMDA College of the Performing Arts.

Audition preparation and techniques are integrated into our curriculum, so students prepare with AMDA faculty and staff to refine their audition skills. To make the most of their time, students are strongly encouraged to arrive with selected pieces they wish to work on for their audition. Please review the information below to prepare for this audition experience, and remember that your instructors will work with you throughout the program to help refine your audition pieces. The Admissions Team will provide support with required next steps toward an acceptance decision following their audition.
