Next Steps

To secure your enrollment please access your Admissions Portal to complete the following steps.

Submit your $250 deposit to secure your spot. Deposits may be paid through your Admissions Portal or via a link sent to your email address.

Once accepted to the High School Conservatory, students must submit demonstration materials specific to their focus. These submissions give faculty the opportunity to evaluate each student’s unique talents in order to better prepare for individualized instruction. Click the button below for instructions on creating and submitting your demonstration materials.

Once you have sent in the demonstration materials, submit all forms for your program, which can be accessed in your Admissions Portal. All forms are due 4 weeks prior to the start date of your intended program.

For Students Attending

Summer Conservatory

The information below is for students attending the in-person Summer Conservatory program.

The AMDA High School Summer Conservatory is first and foremost an educational performing arts intensive that is designed to give high school students a taste of what they can expect from a college level conservatory. Our classes are taught by our world-class AMDA faculty, who are working in the current entertainment industry. They offer incredible knowledge and first-hand experience as well as great connections.

At AMDA, safety and security is our number one priority. Our dorms and instructional buildings are equipped with 24/7 security personnel to ensure your peace of mind, and identification is required to enter any and all buildings. Additionally, we have a dedicated full-time health team ready to assist with any emergencies as well as staff available for any overnight needs.

Student Housing

In both NYC and LA, students live in safe and secure dormitory-style housing that caters to the High School Conservatory experience. Specific locations will be announced in the parent webinar for deposited students occurring each Spring.

Meal Plans

The meal plan is included in the cost of tuition for all students attending our programs. Most dietary needs can be accommodated and must be communicated to the enrollment staff prior to arrival.

The meal plan includes three meals a day plus snacks, water, and herbal tea. They will be served either pre-packaged or buffet-style. All meals are made from scratch with fresh and familiar ingredients by our incredible catering company.

The arrival & departure times you see below are general. All deposited students will receive a welcome email one week prior to their start date with a more detailed schedule.

Commuter students may depart or be picked up after their final performance on the last Friday of their session.

Plane travel is not included in the cost of our program and must be booked individually. However, we do offer transportation to and from the airport for an additional fee of $130 each way. If you plan to utilize airport transportation, please carefully review the guidelines below to ensure you are booking an eligible flight.

  • Flights must be booked to arrive at either LAX (LA Campus) or La Guardia (NY Campus) Airports between 8am and 12pm on the first day of the session, and between the same time frames for departure on the last day.

  • We cannot accommodate transportation from any other airport or location.

  • Upon arrival, students should make sure that their cell phones are turned on and proceed to baggage claim. Our team will be waiting there wearing bright yellow AMDA t-shirts. You can’t miss them!

  • Phone numbers for our travel team as well as all on site operational staff will be provided in your welcome email sent one week prior to the start date of your intended program.

  • On a daily basis, all commuter students will report to a designated counselor upon arrival to the address listed in their welcome email.

  • Nightly departure times will vary depending on the schedule, and will be communicated to you by your counselors during orientation.

  • 3 meals a day plus snacks are included in the tuition for commuter students. The meal plan is required for ALL students.

  • All commuter students must fill out a Travel-Commuter form, found in your Admissions Portal.

Students staying in On Campus housing will want to be sure to pack the following items. Commuter students should have these on hand and will be informed daily of the next day’s requirements.

General Items

  • Spending money for snacks and incidentals (a Visa Pre-Paid card is a great option)

  • Backpack or duffle bag

  • Umbrella or rain jacket (for NY)

  • Sunscreen & hat

  • Health insurance information (if applicable)

Housing Items (Boarding Students)

  • Linens (sheets & blanket): Standard twin-size for NY and twin XL for LA

    • We do not provide linens - you must bring your own. A shipping address will be provided prior to the start of the program if you would like to ship linens ahead of time.

  • Pillow(s)

  • Towels

  • Toiletries

  • Shower shoes

  • Hangers

  • Laundry detergent for on campus laundry

Classroom Supplies

  • 3-ring binder for papers, scripts, music, etc.

  • Pens, pencils and highlighters

  • Recording device (a cell phone may be used)

Clothing & Program-Specific Items

Final Presentation Attire

  • Black Dress Slacks (all students)

  • Solid Color Dress Shirt or Blouse (with or without buttons) - A pop of color is preferred!

    • For lighting purposes, please bring a white tank top or fitted t-shirt to go underneath your dress shirt or blouse

  • Black Dress Heels with a Strap, Black Hard-Soled Dress Shoes, or Black Character Shoes

  • Black Socks, or Black Hose or Tights

Daily Attire

Students should be dressed in comfortable, classroom-appropriate attire that allows for comfortable movement and physical exploration.

Clothing items could include:

  • Black athletic pants or leggings

  • Comfortable t-shirts & tank tops (please see below for specifics on what is allowed)

  • Dresses, skirts & shorts (at least finger-tip length)

    • Students may want to wear bike shorts under dresses & skirts to allow for comfortable movement

  • Athletic Shoes

*If you don’t have any of the above items, please do not feel the need to go out and purchase. We will work with what you have!

Upon your arrival, each student will be provided with a pack of seven AMDA High School Conservatory T-Shirts. These shirts are not just a uniform, but a measure of safety and easy identification during excursions off campus. Therefore, whenever we leave the campus grounds, students are required to wear their AMDA T-Shirts. This policy helps us maintain a secure and cohesive group environment. 

Throughout the program, there will be multiple excursions planned, so we kindly ask students to pack lightly when it comes to tops and prepare to wear their AMDA T-Shirts on several days.

Additional Attire for Dance Students

All dance students will receive instruction across styles. Since the dance program explores many styles and techniques, all dance students should come prepared with the following:

*The below attire will be use for both daily classes as well as final presentations

  • Loose, layered dance wear in the style and color of your choice

  • 2 Black Leotards OR 2 Black or White Fitted t-shirts

  • 5 Solid Color Tanks, Tees, or Leotards (or a mixture of the three)

  • Pink and Black Tights (convertible)

  • Black Dance Shorts OR Dance Belt

  • Black Full-Length Athletic Pants or Leggings

  • Warm-up clothing (sweat pants, sweatshirts, etc.)

  • Jazz Shoes

  • Ballet Shoes

  • Heeled Character Shoes (if applicable)

  • Athletic Shoes or Sneakers

  • Footies / Dance Paws

  • Tap Shoes (experienced tappers only)

Sports bras and crop tops are allowed in dance classes, but we ask that dance students bring warm-up clothing to wear outside of the classroom.

Inappropriate Student Attire:

Student attire should - at all times - be appropriate for the professional standards that are in place at AMDA's New York City and Los Angeles Campuses. Please see the below list for items to avoid.

Please avoid the following:

  • Revealing clothing

  • Crop tops

  • Bandeaus

  • Mini-skirts/short shorts (must be at least fingertip length)

  • Flip-flops

  • Clothing with rips, tears, or holes

  • Open-toed shoes

  • Clothing styles and/or jewelry that are disruptive, detrimental, or injurious to the purpose of the educational program

  • Clothing that does not adequately cover the body or allows undergarments to be shown is considered inappropriate attire

  • Any clothing that advertises or promotes alcohol, drugs, sex, tobacco, violence, and obscene or questionable language

Students staying in On Campus housing who would like to ship supplies or care packages prior to the start of their program may mail packages as early as 2 weeks prior to the start of the session.

  • ALL medications (prescription or over the counter) must come in their original containers/prescribed bottles

  • We cannot accept medications that have been put in anything other than its original/prescribed containers.

  • ALL prescription medications that were not originally listed on the uploaded physician form MUST be accompanied with a note from their medical provider (either an NP or MD) stating:

    • The patient’s name, medication name and dosage

    • When it is to be taken and in what frequency

    • That the student is able to self-administer the medication under the supervision of a health team member

  • A gentle reminder that:

    • We are a caffeine-free program (meaning that we do not serve any caffeinated beverages as a part of our meal plan)

    • We often spend time outside; we highly recommend bringing hats and sunscreen

  • Vaccination Exemptions

    • Exemptions are not allowed for the MMR, Meningococcal, TDAP (within 10 years), Polio, Hepatitis B & Varicella immunizations listed on the physician form

Family and friends are warmly invited to join us for our final presentations, held on the last Friday of each session. Each student may invite up to two guests, and an RSVP form with your student's specific performance time and location information will be sent after the first day of their session.

Audition Experience

During the program, all High School Conservatory students will have the opportunity to participate in an audition experience with the possibility of gaining acceptance to AMDA College of the Performing Arts. Students not yet age eligible for AMDA college acceptance will be considered for scholarships toward future High School Conservatory Programs.

Audition preparation and techniques are integrated into our curriculum, so students prepare with AMDA faculty and staff to refine their audition skills. To make the most of their time, students are strongly encouraged to arrive with selected pieces they wish to work on for their audition. Please review the information below to prepare for this audition experience, and remember that your instructors will work with you throughout the program to help refine your audition pieces. The Admissions Team will provide support with required next steps toward an acceptance decision following their audition.

The audition for rising freshman and sophomores is used to gain valuable audition experience in a supportive setting.

Faculty will assist in preparations for the in-person audition.

The audition experience for rising juniors and seniors is used for possible admission and merit-based scholarships for AMDA’s college programs.
