AMDA's BFA Acting (Online) program is designed to provide artistic performance training for stage, film, and television.

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre is a vibrant tapestry of emotion, storytelling, and spectacle. It is where melodies meet the narrative, bringing characters and their journeys to life. Student Testimonials

"For the first time, possibly in my whole life, I feel confident in myself. For starters, the support I immediately received from my instructors was paramount. My strengths were celebrated, my creativity was encouraged, and very importantly, the spark of performance was reignited inside of me."

Sofia Hatch

"When I first started AMDA in 2006 I never thought I would have the chance to come back and graduate with my BFA nearly 20 years later. Obtaining my BFA has been a huge goal this past decade as I have entered the field of education. I feel so motivated and prepared now to follow up my BFA with a teaching credential."

Malerie Magallanes

"I know myself better now, and I’m fully equipped to audition and leave the room feeling ready for the next audition. It literally scares me to imagine who I would have continued being had I not returned to AMDA to finish [my degree]."

Tarantino Smith

"I love the course materials, the one-on-one guidance available with the teachers, and knowing that everything that I was learning was relevant and can be directly applied in the field. The hybrid of independent work and collaboration is unique and pushes you to absorb more of what you are being taught."

Nakia Secrest

“I love that I can finish up my degree from home! Coming back to pursue a BFA online was refreshing and it challenged my skills on a new level. What I appreciated the most was that teachers adapted to the levels of the students. I definitely feel like my self-tape skills improved through this program, which is crucial as an actor.”

Transfer Credit Options

Besides AMDA credits, there are many options to transfer outside credit into AMDA’s online programs. If you have attended another college or university, have taken Advanced Placement tests, or have substantial professional performing experience, you may be eligible for transfer credit.

AMDA requires official academic transcripts (in English) from all college/university or post-secondary institutions you have attended.

If your academic transcripts use a U.S. grading system, you may submit using one of the options below. Academic transcripts are only considered official if sent directly by the institution or educational organization using one of the following methods:

Electronically through one of these options:

  1. Email from school official to docs@amda.edu

  2. Parchment

  3. National Student Clearinghouse

By Mail via registered mail or courier to the address provided:

AMDA-Records Department

211 W 61 St Street

New York, NY 10023

If your academic transcripts use a grading system different from the U.S., you will need to have them evaluated by a NACES-approved credential evaluation agency. Some recommended agencies include IEE, TEC, GCEU, IERF, WES, and ECE.

  1. If you choose International Education Evaluations (IEE) to do your evaluation, please use the IEE Application for AMDA

  2. If you choose The Evaluation Company (TEC) to do your evaluation, please use the TEC Application For AMDA

The evaluation MUST include a course-by-course analysis, recommended U.S. equivalency, and a calculated U.S. GPA equivalent.

Note: You will be responsible for any fees associated with these services.

If you earned a 3 or higher on your Advanced Placement (AP) test, you can send transcripts to AMDA for transfer credit evaluation. Scores can be sent electronically through the College Board.

Experiential Learning Credit refers to life or work experience meeting a particular level of professional industry standard or accomplishment. Upon AMDA’s approval, this type of credit may be applied toward AMDA’s Degree Programs. Credit hours can only be awarded for life or work experience that directly relates to the student’s AMDA program. Portfolio assessments may result in up to a maximum of 30 program credits applied toward the Bachelor Degrees and 15 program credits toward the Associate of Occupational Studies Degrees.

Interested students should submit the Experiential Learning Credit Inquiry Form (available in the Student Portal or from the Registrar at LAregistrar@amda.edu). After approval, students have the option to complete the Experiential Learning Portfolio either prior to enrolling at AMDA or during their program of study.
